Our Process
Finding the right dog:
If you see a dog that you are interested in on one of our social media platforms, please fill in the application form below and wait to hear back from our re-homing team. Please bare in mind that we get a lot of applications and our re-homing team operates on a voluntary basis. They will endeavor to get back to you as soon as they can.Â
Â
Complete and submit your application:
Having completed and submitted your form, our Re-homing Team will review your answers and telephone you if they require any further information. Should this be successful, a home check will be arranged.Â
Â
The home check:
This is carried out by our voluntary home checkers at a time and date arranged with you. It should be in daylight hours and we would normally expect all living in the dog’s potential new home to be present. This is a fact finding visit and home checkers will report their findings back to the Re-homing Team, who are the decision makers as to whether or not Animal Lifeline agrees to a specific adoption. You will be advised of their decision by the team shortly after the home check.
Â
Collecting your dog:
Successful adoptees will be contacted by one of our team to arrange a time and date for handover. You will be required to sign an adoption document and requested to make an adoption donation. Minimum amount has been agreed by our team at £150.00 – we try where possible to ensure all of our dogs are up to date with their vaccinations and are neutered/spayed before leaving to go into their new homes. All adoption donations go back into the general funds to help care for our dogs.Â
Â
Once you have your dog home:
When you first take your new dog home, they may initially be a little timid and need some time to adjust to their new environment. We do offer a slow progression approach to the dogs we feel will find it harder to adapt to a new environment, where you can take them home for a few hours at a time, then an overnight stay, before taking them home forever. Please allow your new dog time to adjust. It can take up to 3 months for a dogs to fully decompress to a new home. However, we are always available to contact should you have any issues with your dog once you have taken them home.Â
